Website verification process
We need to make sure that Google Search Console can “talk” to your domain. That’s why we need to connect them and the only way to do that is to copy a piece of verification code that Google Search Console provides and put it into your website hosting
Step 5: Login to your website hosting account
Login to your hosting account where you have your server for your website. You should be able to see your domain here, click on it, and login to cPanel dashboard.
If you are not sure where you have your hosting and how to login in to your cPanel:
- Try contacting a person that helped you set up your website.
- Try reaching out to hosting support.
NOTE: Since there are many different hosting providers we can’t describe a process for each one of them.
Step 6: Within your cPanel try locating a DNS editor
NOTE: Each hosting provider has a bit different layout. If your dashboard doesn’t look similar to this please try to contact hosting support.
Depending on the hosting, your DNS editor should state similar to this:
- DNS Editor
- Zone Editor
- DNS Manager
- DNS Records
- etc.

Step 7: Find your Domain and click manage/edit

Step 8: To add a new DNS record click on Add Record button
Now you should be able to see all your DNS records for your domain, click on a button and add a new one.

Step 9: Add a new DNS record to verify your domain
Here you will need to watch out and fill out all fields correctly:
- Name: enter your domain name (exampledomain.com)
- TTL: Leave as default, if empty enter 3600.
- Type: Select TXT
- Record: Copy and paste the verification code that Google Search Console provided you with in the step 4.
To save click Add Record button.

Step 10: Go back to the Google Search Console window and click verify

Step 11: If you followed the steps above correctly your domain should be approved
NOTE: Usually verification process is immediate but sometimes a DNS record needs up to 72 hours to update. If It’s not working for you right away you may need to wait a bit.

Adding users to your Google Search Console
Now that we created a Google Search Console and verify it we can add users so others can work on it.
Step 12: Scroll down and navigate to the setting bar on the left

Step 13: Click on Users and permissions tab

Step 14: Click on add user
